Evaluation Indexes for Elongation of High Beryllium Casting Be-Al Alloy

  • The microstructure and the tensile fracture process of a high beryllium casting Be-Al alloy were analyzed. And combining the requirement and definition of GB/T 228.1-2010 and ASTM E8-2004, the accurate evaluation indexes for elongation of high beryllium casting Be-Al alloy were researched. The results show that high beryllium casting Be-Al alloy was a kind of composite material with aluminum as the matrix, and after tensile test the samples might not be completely broken, so it was not suitable to evaluate the elongation index of it by the method of docking the fractured samples. It was better to collect accurate strain by extensometer and chose the right breaking point in order to obtain the effective elongation index.
